Simping Island in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan Province
Not all tourists are aware of the presence of a small island in Singkawang City. The name is Simping Island and it belongs to Singkawang Selatan Sub-District. Also, it resides in Sedau Village and located across Teluk Mak Jantu Beach. In the past, the locals called it Kelapa Dua Island and it is considered the smallest island in the world! Even the United Nations has approved it! Due to the fact, many outsiders are interested in visiting the island and witness the uniqueness up close. The Nuance
In terms of size, Simping is indeed small. It has the total width of about 0.5 hectares. The good thing is the locals have built a bridge to get to the island easily. How to Get There
In order to get to Simping Island, tourists should reach Teluk Mak Jantu Beach at Sedau Village first. Their prime destination is definitely South Singkawang Sub-District. Once arriving at the beach, they can use the available bridge to get to the island. For the information, the whole trip may take about 2 hours and 55 minutes if they come from Pontianak City. It is because the distance is 145 km.
